Footnotes

1.The MS describes this as a mummers' play, but it is unlike any other. The short text is a mixture of the Children's Game, 'Sir John and the Lady' and 'The Lady on Yonder Hill' with a few lines from chapbook versions of the mummers' play. There are three characters, A, B, and a Doctor: A stabs himself, is revived by the doctor, and the fragment ends with the three characters joining hands and dancing round. There is no further detail.
