Footnotes

.Pt.3 addition
.Pt.2 changes: 1928 and source Barley Coll. added
.Pt.2 changes: Plough Monday changed to Christmas and Plough Monday. Source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.2 change: Sources Barley Coll. and Rudkin Coll. added
.Pt.3 change: 1929, New Year and source Cawte Coll. added
.The source for Carpenter Coll. is the same as Rudkin, but includes Johnson's original holograph text.
Pt.2 changes: Extant year changed from late 19th cty to late 1940's. Sources Carpenter Coll. and Johnson (1966) added
.Pt.1 change: Delete entirely. No evidence in the MS for a play and Mrs, E.H.Rudkin says the evidence is only for a title for some performance, and should not be taken to imply a play.
.Pt.1 change: Delete entirely. No evidence in Barley MS, and MWB thinks it is a misprint for Baston.
.Pt.2 changes: Extant year changed from c.1910 to 1913. Source Barley Coll. added
.Pt.2 changes: c.1850 changed to c.1874. Plough Monday changed to Christmas to New Year. Text availability changed from 'No Text' to 'Text', and Class from 'Doubtful' to 'Wooing / Hero-Combat' Source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.2 changes: Text availability changed from 'No Text' to 'Frag.'. Source Fenoughty MS added
.This is the play given by Barley (1953) as Nettleton. Mr Gibbons (not Dixon as given in Barley (1953)) took it from the notebook of W. Shadford whose workshop was at Caistor, but whose family was buried at Nettleton. It seems more likely that the play was performed at Caistor that Nettleton (Helm Coll.).
Pt.2 changes: Extant date changed from c.1850 to c.1930, and class from 'Doubtful' to 'Doubtful Wooing'. Source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.2 change: Source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.3 change: 1930s, Plough Monday, and source Cawte Coll. added.
.Pt.1 change: Extant year added
.Pt.1 change: Delete entirely. Same as Bicker.

.Pt.1 change: Amend to Dowsby TF1129 'Frag.' 'Wooing / Hero-Combat'
.Pt.2 change: c.1830 changed to c.1900
.Pt.2 changes: c.1879, before Christmas and source Carpenter Coll. added. Text availability changed from 'No Text' to 'Text', and class from 'Doubtful' to 'Wooing / Hero-Combat'.

.Pt.2 changes: 1890's and source Barley Coll. added. Class changed from 'Doubtful' to 'Doubtful Visiting'
.Pt.2 changes: 1890's, Plough Monday and source Barley Coll. added. Class changed from 'Wooing' to 'Wooing / Hero-Combat'
.Given as Great Hole in source.
.Barley (1953), p. 69, refers to Kirkington in the Wolds, which is presumably a misprint for Kirmington.
Pt.2 changes: 1914 and sources Carpenter Coll., Greig (1977) and Fenoughty MS added
.Pt.2 changes: 1890's changed to c.1914, and Christmas to Christmas and Plough Monday. Source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.1 change: Delete entirely. No evidence for a performance from Langton, and much of the evidence is clearly from elsewhere.
.Referred to as Langwith in Rudkin (1933).
.Pt.1 change: Class change from 'Hero-Combat Visiting' to 'Doubtful Visiting'.
.Pt.1 change: Delete entirely. Text from Tathwell, and the performance at Lusby was short-lived, by a drama group, and modified. Reasons for deletion are made clear in the Hamer and Rudkin MSS.
.Pt.1 change: Delete entirely. No record in the Barley MS, and MWB thinks it is an abbreviation for Moulton Seas End.
.This is the play referred to in Barley (1953) as Alford as well as Mumby.

.Village (1937) appears to be a reprint of Rudkin Coll.. The latter, but not the former, states that the team at North Kelsey was visiting from South Kelsey.
.Pt.2 changes: 1842 changed to 1874, Christmas to Christmas & Plough Monday and class 'Wooing' to 'Wooing / Hero-Combat'. Source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.2 changes: c.1876, Christmas to New Year, and source Carpenter Coll. added
.Pt.1 change: Class change from 'Wooing' to 'Wooing / Hero-Combat'.
