Dear Barley,

We have had a very pleaeant response from various people
as a result of your article in the 0ctober issue of 'The Countryside'.
Perhaps the best effort was from Mr. Holmes of Thurgarton who gave us
a very full copy of 'The Scarle' Play in which Village he spent the
early part of his Life. I enclose a copy of this.

Mrs. F. G. Brooks of Calverton gave me some interesting notes
as also Mr. James Holloway of Calverton, whose recollections were of
Blidworth. I like Mr. Holloway's note on the 'Harvest Home' in the
Blidworth area. This little ceremony is a new one on me.

I received a further communication on the 10th November
from an old man in Leeds who refers to a Laxton Play which I hope
to obtain from a friend 1n the village.

May I take this opportunity of thanking you very much for
returning the lovely photographs, together wlth a suitable caption.
We will preserve the order for publication as you suggest.

  Yours sincerely,

  A. Roberts

  Secretary.
