The Mr Bell concerned was Mr Charles Christopher Bell, born 1846 and raised in Hickling, Notts.
His brother John Henry Bell, also born 1844 and raised in Hickling, married Rosa Hutchinson in East Retford, and they had two children Charles E (1877) and Annie (1879) in Elvaston, Derbys. Subsequently, after a stay in Epworth, Lincs. (1881), censuses have them living in Stapleford, Notts., or thereabout from 1891. Toton was part of Stapleford at the that time. However, it seems unlikely that Annie Bell was the neice Charles Bell mentions, because she was listed in the 1911 census as still unmarried and living with her parents. |
