Francis Douce (1757-1834), antiquary; bequeathed his manuscripts,
prints and coins to the Bodleian Library and his unpublished essays to
the British Museum. Douce did not collect plays himself, but his
manuscripts hold three texts:- (1) A copy of the chapbook "Alexander and
the King of Egypt..." (1788), (2) an unlocated cheshire play, and (3) a
Cheshire text copied by Douce from G.Ormerod's manuscript, an abstract of
which was printed in G.Ormerod (1818)
