The Plough Boy's Play: A Version Recorded [Selby, Yorks.]
*Yorkshire Post, 11th Jan.1937, p.6 c-e

The full text (53 lines) of a Plough Monday play and a photograph. It is not clear whether the two are related, but both feature four characters. The text characters are Beelzebub, King William, Old Roger and Doctor. The description states that St. George and Slasher could be substituted for King William and Old Roger. The caption on the photo reads "'Plow Stots' near Selby 45 years ago. This Plough Monday custom has been revived at Goathland." There is brief mention of "Plough-bullocking" - plough trailing.
