*Manuscripts M/9921 to M/9923 cover Guilford's folk play collection, which he actively collected locally
in the 1920s, with correspondents including A.S.Buxton. In the 1930s, he continued gatherering play
texts and information nationwide from publications and correspondents, notably R.J.Sharp of Sussex.
Manuscripts DD/481/1 to DD/481/8 cover source material for his glossary of Notts., dialect (E.L.Guilford, 1942),
which included entries relating to Plough Monday
Everard Guilford was a Lecturer in History at University College Nottingham in the 1910s and 1920s
with a particular interest in local history. He left in 1928 to pursue a career with the BBC.
